Hibbert Scores, we riot!
If Tony Hibbert scores the winner at Wembley our estimates show that this would be the destruction radius :

Wembley Seating Plan for the West Stand
This might be useful for blues trying to work out where their FA Cup Semi Final seats are in the Everton end (West Stand) :
The blocks correspond with the areas either side of the aisles as far as I can tell

What's that coming over the hill? Is it the Scousers? Is it the Scousers?
I have to admit I'd genuinely thought our chance to get to Wembley had gone with the original tie but Everton we immense last night. So rare for us to just put a tie to bed in such a dominant maner.
Felt really sorry for David Vaughan but even 2-0 didn't reflect the way the game unfolded :

Hugely proud of the team and the 6000 people who made their way up to back the lads.
So now Wembley against our lovable neighbours...within minutes of the final whistle Everton have said that all season ticket holders are guaranteed a ticket so that is pretty good. Means we can book transport etc and get everything sorted for another Wembley trip. I know people say the days of the friendly derby are over but this could be a fantastic day for the city of Liverpool. Let's hope so.

Jammy Everton for once
Well after a painfully disappointing start again QPR the blues have bounced back with two wins. Yesterday's against Blackburn probably saw us play a lot worse than we did last week and come away with the points.
When it's your day it's your day...I have to disagree with Moyes about the penalties, both there's are soft penalties but are given every time. No complaints. In terms of ours Samba wins the header but Fellaini is taken out by his jump. Personally I am surprised it was given but if the Rovers players are doing it each and every time they are running the risk.
Still Blackburn must be gutted that they didn't win the game, the Everton players must be delighted. A win is a win.

Everton stall against QPR but bounce back against Sheffield United
The opening day of Everton's season (week two for everyone else) was a massively frustrating one and one that underlined the gloom around the club at the moment. The players are talking positively but the fans see a squad that has been left high & dry by financial constraints.
The truth is probably somewhere in the middle because the players see a loyal club that is seeking to back them and reward them for staying...the fans see the team that has needed a striker for about two years.
What is for sure is that a home defeat against QPR was not what we needed. One shot one goal from the visitors but a defeat is a defeat. Everton huffed & puffed, hit the bar, hit the post had penalty claims waved away but ultimately never put QPR on the ropes. Very frustrating.
Goodison was sparely attended on Wednesday (by our standards, apparently there was only 4000 at Loftus Road the night before against Everton 17,000) perhaps owing to the depression felt amongst the bluenoses. In truth Sheffield United offered little by way of a real test but rather humorously took the lead despite Everton dominating the whole game. This seems to act as a wake up call for the Toffeemen who hit back straight away and were out of site by half time.
A win is a win I suppose.

New Everton home shirt revealed
Amidst all this politics and media scandal it's nice to have something sporty to think about for once. The new Everton home shirt has been revealed.

Blue socks? Not happy, nothing good will come of it. I know this is perhaps one of the most pointless posts in the blog's history but this is the only Everton news around! No signings at all whilst everyone else seems to be having a feeding frenzy. We really do need to augment the squad and get some fire-power up front if we are going to avoid the shambolic stuttering start to the season we've seen in recent years.
In other news the entire Waterloo squad is committed for next season so that is great news. If we can bring in a couple more players we should hopefully banish the spectre of the recent slide through the leagues and start to build for the future.

The Poznan Celebration or attention seeking superfan knobbery
| So Everton 2 - 1 Man City and our hoodoo over the billionaire mercenaries continues...Extremely gratifying given it was Lescott's first return to Goodison. Also gratifying given how much I detest the faux-zany superfan-wannabe scoring celebration that is "The Poznan". Honestly, what is that all about? I do know that going the game is meant to be fun...but your team has just scored a goal, why turn around and jump up and down looking at the arse of the person on the row above. It's the match not a performance art exhibit. I am just not impressed with all this co-ordination. Why do modern fans have an obsession with it. Music after a goal, all holding scraves up at once, flags, murals....what's wrong with just going to the game and enjoying the football. The trained seal routine just does not do it for me at all. |

Arteta tears his hamstring
It can only be assumed that the Everton team bus must have ran over a unicorn at some stage of pre-season. We just can't get a break this season at all, there have been some abject capitulations but the injury situation is just becoming ridiculous. Cahill, Fellaini and now Arteta all out :(
Add to this the refs absolute inability to spot a foul on our players in the box. What do you actually have to do to an Everton player to give away a penalty? Shoot them with a shotgun? Ritual sacrifice? Nuclear attack?
And whilst I am moaning how is it an advantage to Everton if we are surging forward, get fouled then scramble back possession ten yards back facing our own goal and under pressure?
Argh!!!

Oh I never felt more like singing the blues...
...when Everton win and Waterloo too
and England as well.
Can't complain about that. Top sporting weekend for once. Waterloo out of the relegation and Everton back in the top half.
Plus England beating our Belle Enemmi meant I won £10 off a Welshman (thus shrinking their economy by a quarter of the percent).

Leafleting & canvassing for Labour
Spent the morning and early afternoon leafleting for Allerton & Hunts Cross campaign....home just in time to hear the extra time of the Chelsea v Everton replay....and then the penalties. Utterly fantastic, just didn't think Phil Neville would slot that penalty. Queue absolute joy in our little Evertonian household. Love it so much. A great reward for a long morning on the campaign trail.

Everton v Blackpool....bonkers
You might have noticed the as well as a general decline in the number of posts on here the number of posts reporting on Everton & Waterloo has gone down too.
Both having pretty wretched seasons really. Everton just can't get going and Waterloo are struggling desperately to find a stable level.
Yesterday though we had Everton scoring 5 in a ridiculous roller-coaster of a game and Waterloo scoring 5 tries for two good wins.
Felt totally drained after the Everton game, angry at one all (because of the quite ridiculous refereeing decision not to allow advantage as we broke into the box to score), utter deflation at 2-3 and surreal joy as we finally kicked clear of Blackpool who it needs to be said are a proper exhilerating attacking footballing side.
Thank God for King Louis.
Waterloo are finally out of the relegation zone. That is brilliant news but Middlesborough have two games in hand. Interestingly enough despite being 4th from bottom Waterloo have the most bonus points in the league. It shows how close to being a comfortably mid-table team we are at the moment.

Get in!!!!!!!!!! Everton 2 - 0 liverpool
There are few things better than a derbt victory but genuinely any other result would have been a travesty. It's fair to say there is a lot of problems at that club and while the new ownership will mean they'll rise quickly I doubt I'll ever see a poorer liverpool side.
Everton were great...they weren't going to slip up again (remember last season playing them off the park yet getting beat 2-0). Jags & Distin were superb, Coleman and Osman were both superb Cahill, Arteta and Neville really imposed himself but The Yak was immense...it was a team win but for a player who is under pressure and lacking in his goal touch he just chased everything and battered the liverpool defense into submission.
Superb win but ultimately you've got to say Everton should be beating teams like that.

Rock Bottom
Really not enjoying Everton being bottom of the league. Not good at all....so many games we've had opportunities to establish a comfortable lead and let the chances slip. I don't think we are playing badly, it's just we simply can't score goals.
Yakubu can't seem to buy a goal, Beckford doesn't seem to be getting a chance Gueye has disappointed in the Carling Cup games and Anichebe and Saha are injured.
So annoying when you look at the quality of the squad we have overall.

Start as you mean to go on. Everton v Wolves
Argh, what an annoying start to the season for Everton. Wolves kicked , elbows, barged, backed into and fouled everything that moved in the midfield but ultimately we ony have ourselves to blame for being on one point instead of four.
So annoying when you look at the quality of the players Everton can field at the moment.
Hope we'll click soon but with Villa and Utd coming up we've left ourselves trying to salvage a dodgy start instead of looking to build on a positive one.

Everton FC v CD Everton

The game against Everton Vina del Mar was a tremendous occasion. My only regret is that the Chileans didn't score because you could tell everyone was ready to erupt for the visitors.
It was great to see such an historic game. I love sporting trivia like the Everton Everton thing.
The club definitely need to do something regular with the Brotherhood Trophy now.
It is what being a footy fan is all about. The fact that people from Merchant Tailors in Crosby founded Barcelona and gave them their colours, similar with Notts County and Juventus. I also remember that the amateur team Corinthians gave their name to the Brazilian team.

All things Everton
So the blues have now signed Araz Abdullayev & Magaye Gueye to join Jermaine Beckford, João Silva & Ján Mucha...not a bad start for Everton this time.
Revealed the new home kit today. Things are moving a-pace for once at Goodison.

Everton 3 - 1 Man Utd
I would like to think that that match was a watershed for Everton. It was massively significant because no0t only did we beat Man Utd, a rare thing in itself, but we out played them.
It reminded me of last season's 1-1 draw with Arsenal...we didn't beat them in the same old way. We out footballed them, Saturday was the same.
Our successes against big, powerful, classy top-4 sides usually come from a high-tempo, tight gameplan...it's wonderful to see Everton turning on the style and coming out on top.
Absolutely bouncing.

Everton's treatment room xi
Everton are depressingly beatable at the moment but ultimately it's not surprising when our treatment room xi is, apart from needing a keeper, looking fantastic. Look at the team we had missing for the weekend against Bolton
Everton Treatment Room XI - 26/10/09
Hibbert - Yobo - Jagielka - Baines
Pienaar - Arteta - Neville - Bilyaletdinov
Yakubu - Vaughan
with Anichebe and Osmanalso fighting for a place too
