Just got back from our little tour of the Low Countries (after our tour of some very high places last year).
Really liked Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands had a really nice time. It has to be said, however, it would have been an absolutely brilliant holiday if we'd have got anything resembling summer weather. Still mustn't grumble, a holiday is a holiday.
We took the ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge and proceded to Bruge. Really liked the ferry...very civilised way of doing it (even if it was blowing a gale). Bruge was lovely...it's almost eerie how pristine and olde world it is. Gent was possibly my favourite place in Belgium, found a really good pub there to try some of the trappist beers. Brussels was enjoyable too...saw the manekin pis statue and his sister a few block to the north. That lead us to discover the Delerium Tremens Cafe and after that things are a little blurred.
From there we nipped through Namur in the Ardennes and on to Luxembourg...had a great time there despite the weather...then back through busy bustling Antwerp and onto Tilbug in the Netherlands to meet up with our old mate Joost "The Hurk" van den Hurk.
So very wet but a good time was had by all.
